Learn more - Digital Cable
What is digital cable?
When cable was first introduced, it was being broadcasted over the airwaves using analog technology that was put in place by the NTSC (National Television System Committee). The analog technology is becoming very outdated and is in the process of being replaced by digital technology.
A few years ago is when digital cable started to show. The ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) developed an advanced way of transmitting video and on February 17, 2009 it will become the standard for television throughout the country.
High Definition
With digital cable taking over, High Definition will allow even higher quality video to be shown (an HD TV is required). High Def video is recorded in a much higher resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) which is 1080p format. When compared to the standard recording of digital video which is usually 640 x 480 pixels. The high resolution results in a much cleaner and crisper picture and is especially noticed on larger screen televisions.
